Powerglide/th400 Swap info

 Under construction.

Here is my experience with going automatic. iLL Garage performed the swap but I have photos and information that will help you get an understanding or what you need to buy and do.

Here is my parts list

Jegs 1200 horse power glide

ATF adapter and flex plate

Circle D converter

ShaftMasters Drive shaft

B&M Pro Ratchet shifter

Transmission cooler

Custom vss bracket

Custom oem trans mount

Custom shift knob

If you're removing the oem transmission, you'll have to hammer around the trans tunnel so you can fit this transmission.

You'll have to cut out the hole for the oem shifter but it will be covered up by the oem center console. The B&M pro ratchet shifter is the only one that'll fit. If you ger an air shifter you'll have to mount it up top.

The transmission is shorter than the oem and much shorter than a T56 if you have worked with that transmission before.

You can modify your oem mount like this one.

Your current exhaust probably won't fit. You'll have to cut it by the transmission and bring out the pipe a little more towards the outside.

The transmission itself doesn't have a speed sensor. You'll need a bracket so you can mount one. You technically don't need a speed sensor BUT if you want to use a trans brake it's definitely recommended so you can't accidentally activate that.

You can mount the transmission cooler on the left side where the left muffler was.

All photos and information are provided by Erik Marin. When setting up for a Glide/TH400 make sure you talk to your transmission shop, they'll know the stall you need. Setting up a car with low torque will be different than a normal V8 with an auto.
